Our Obstetricians & Gynecologists

Jacob Saleh, MD | North Shore Associates
Jacob Saleh, MD
Dr. Saleh is a founding member of North Shore Associates in Gynecology and Obstetrics (NSAGO). He has been practicing obstetrics and gynecology for 33 years, all of them at NSAGO. Dr. Saleh did his undergraduate work at Loyola University of Chicago, earned his medical degree at the Universidad Autónoma De Guadalajara and Loyola Stritch School of Medicine, and completed his residency at Loyola Stritch’s St. Francis Hospital. He maintains memberships in The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, The American Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology, and The Association of Professors of Gynecology and Obstetrics. Dr. Saleh is also active in teaching: he is a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine and the director of undergraduate medical education at Northshore University Health System’s Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Saleh lives in Wilmette with his wife Laura Ann. When he’s not with patients or teaching, he enjoys spending time with his children, traveling, and playing golf.

Pamela Goodwin, MD | North Shore Associates
Pamela Goodwin, MD
Dr. Goodwin earned her undergraduate and medical degree, as well as completed her residency, at the University of Iowa. She has been practicing obstetrics and gynecology for 24 years, with the bulk of her career spent at NSAGO, and is Board Certified by the American Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology. As an undergraduate at Iowa, she volunteered in a free medical clinic working mainly in gynecology well-woman visits. During her time in medical school, she decided on her path to become an Ob-Gyn. Today she feels privileged to help women navigate the changes in their bodies and their health as they age. Dr. Goodwin lives in Evanston with her husband and three children. Outside of work, she enjoys biking, gardening, and traveling.

Kim Johnson, MD | North Shore Associates
Kim Johnson, MD
Dr. Johnson graduated from Michigan State University, completed her medical school training at Wayne State University School of Medicine, and her residency at Harvard Medical School/Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Massachusetts General Hospital. Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology, Dr. Johnson has been practicing for 21 years, the last seven at NSAGO. She focuses on general Ob-Gyn care from adolescence to menopausal care and beyond. Her passion for women’s health care started well before medical school, and she finds the ability and training to be involved in primary care as well as surgical care of a patient very fulfilling. Plus, she says, “Delivering babies is amazing!” Dr. Johnson lives in Wilmette with her husband and three children. They regularly volunteer at community food pantries and homeless shelters. When not seeing patients and volunteering, she enjoys spending time with her family, running, cross-fit training, and traveling.

Elizabeth Perelman, MD | North Shore Associates
Elizabeth Perelman, MD
Dr. Perelman earned her undergraduate degree at Brown University. Prior to medical school, she worked as a high school science teacher for four years at low-income schools in New York City through Teach for America, during which time she earned her master’s degree in education. She completed medical school at Drexel University College of Medicine and residency at Rush University. She is Board Certified by the American Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology and maintains a membership with the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. Dr. Perelman joined NSAGO in 2020. Dr. Perelman loves delivering babies and the opportunity to build relationships with her patients as she cares for them in all phases of their reproductive lives in the ambulatory, hospital, and surgical settings. Dr. Perelman lives in Wilmette with her husband and daughters. Outside of work, she enjoys running, biking, cooking, and traveling.

Samra Khalid, DO | North Shore Associates
Samra Khalid, DO
Dr. Khalid grew up in New Jersey and graduated Magna Cum Laude from The College of New Jersey. She then attended Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed Ob-Gyn residency at Monmouth Medical Center in New Jersey, where she served as chief administrative resident during her fourth year. She is a member of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Khalid lives in Wilmette with her husband and children. Since a young age she has had an interest in pregnancy and women’s health. She feels privileged to be able to care for women throughout all stages of their lives. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family, trying new restaurants, traveling and yoga.

Paul Kuder, MD | North Shore Associates
Paul Kuder, MD
Dr. Kuder focuses on comprehensive women’s care, including a special interest in obstetrics, minimally invasive gynecologic surgery, and initial management of infertility. He establishes long-term connections with patients, providing continuity from prenatal to postpartum care, and collaboratively explores solutions to gynecologic issues through shared decision-making to formulate treatment plans. Dr. Kuder strives to perform necessary surgeries with a focus on facilitating the patient's swift return to full functionality. Dr. Kuder attended the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign for his undergraduate degree and obtained his master’s degree from Loyola University Chicago. He graduated from Chicago Medical School at Rosalind Franklin University and completed his residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago in Obstetrics and Gynecology. In 2018 he was recognized for his excellence in minimally invasive gynecology by AAGL and UIC. He is passionate about medical student and resident education and has won awards for his teaching. In his spare time, he loves photography, traveling, and hiking nature trails with his wife and son. Dr. Kuder also speaks Spanish and Polish.

Sarah Sumagin, CNM
Sarah earned her undergraduate nursing degree at the University of Rochester and her graduate degree at Emory University in Atlanta. She has been a practicing midwife for four years, the last two at North Shore Associates in Gynecology and Obstetrics. Sara loves helping women learn about their bodies, their babies, and their options. She believes in informed choice and respectful, individualized care for each woman and family. Sara lives in Skokie with her husband and four children. Sara enjoys gardening, cooking, and spending time with family.

Debi Lesnick, CNM
Debi has been a practicing nurse midwife for 30 years and with North Shore Associates in Gynecology and Obstetrics for 23. She completed her undergraduate work at Barnard College in New York City, University of Florence in Italy, the University of Rochester, and the University of Alabama. She completed her master’s in nursing at the University of Alabama Birmingham. Debi is a Board-certified nurse midwife and maintains membership with the American College of Nurse-Midwives. Debi was drawn to midwifery through personal experience having her first child in Italy, where having a midwife is the norm. She loved the closeness of the relationship she developed with her midwife and the care she received and decided to follow in the same career path. Debi also specializes in working with teens. She lives in Evanston and when not with patients, she volunteers at the Ladies Aide Society, enjoys reading, cooking (especially baking) and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Rachel Loth, CNM
Rachel earned her undergraduate nursing degree and her graduate nursing degree at University of Pennsylvania. Before becoming a midwife, Rachel was a labor and delivery nurse at Mercy Hospital on the Southside of Chicago. Rachel loves working with pregnant people throughout their pregnancy and supporting them in labor. Her goal is to keep birth normal, but also help guide parents if any interventions are indicated for their health or their baby’s safety. Rachel believes the foundation of midwifery is to be in partnership with patients. Rachel tries to create a safe and respectful environment for every office visit. She will prioritize consent with any physical assessments. She is comfortable with providing gynecological and well-woman care.

Jordan Parnell, CNM
Jordan earned her undergraduate nursing degree at the University of Pennsylvania and her graduate nursing degree at Frontier Nursing University. Jordan also has a Bachelor's Degree in Gender, Women’s, and Sexuality Studies and Religious Studies from Grinnell College. Before becoming a Nurse-Midwife, Jordan worked as a labor and delivery nurse and a doula. She chose midwifery because she believes in the importance of empowering people to make decisions about their bodies. Jordan enjoys providing labor support, pregnancy care, and women's health care across the lifespan. She is particularly interested in trauma-informed care and LGBTQ+ health. Jordan lives in Chicago with her spouse and small dog. She enjoys spending time at the lake, reading mystery novels, and taking road trips.

Gaye Koconis,CNM
Gaye is a Certified Nurse-Midwife who has been practicing in the Chicago area for over 19 years. She earned her undergraduate nursing degree at Loyola University of Chicago and her graduate degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago. She is a member of the American College of Nurse-Midwives and Evidence Based Birth. She is also an adjunct faculty member for the University of Illinois at Chicago, Frontier University, North Park University, and Regis College in Massachusetts. Gaye’s focus on health promotion and harm reduction allows her to care for patients throughout their lifespan—from adolescence to menopause. She has worked on numerous committees to expand access to individualized and respectful care that recognizes the uniqueness of every person. She believes that health care encounters should empower patients to be active participants in their own care. Gaye lives in Chicago with her partner and their four children, and when she is not with patients, she enjoys gardening, reading, traveling, and spending time with her family and dog and cat.

Shelby Marshall, CNM
Shelby brings a wealth of experience to North Shore Associates OBGYN, having previously worked as a labor & delivery nurse at top institutions including Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Boston Medical Center, and Brigham & Women’s. Inspired by her mother’s work as a nurse’s aide, Shelby pursued a career focused on the beginning of life, where she discovered her passion for maternity care during nursing school. With a deep commitment to the holistic, low-intervention model of midwifery, Shelby provides compassionate, patient-centered care, emphasizing contraceptive options counseling and shared decision-making. She creates a safe, nonjudgmental space for women, listening to their concerns and guiding them through personalized care pathways. Outside of work, Shelby maintains an active lifestyle through hot yoga, running, and travel.
